you matter

you belong here

you are enough

A guiding tenant of my work is the quote “when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain changing.”

In working with people of all ages and in various seasons of life, I’ve learned just how much a person’s view of self, others, and the world is impacted by early experiences. Much of my work involves exploring ways in which past experiences shape present functioning, including the sense of connection. I believe it can be helpful to spend some time exploring the “why” behind what people do and having compassionate understanding for how that pattern developed and once helped. After that begins the journey of exploring if those patterns continue to align with the life they want to live, beginning the shift out of survival mode or autopilot into a more intentional and authentic life, embracing vulnerability so they can more deeply connect with their purpose and values.

I also believe in delving into the mind-body connection, and viewing people from a holistic perspective, as they learn new patterns to support their nervous systems and selves. I help people strengthen their emotional regulation skills and increase their distress tolerance, so that they can feel more confident and competent in being able to withstand the discomforts, struggles, and uncertainties in life.

Finally, I come from a Christian-informed perspective, in that my faith is an essential and sacred part of my life, and I enjoy helping people use spirituality to deepen their life experiences.  I am also passionate about holding space for those who may have a complicated history with faith or may be trying to learn what it means to live a faith-filled life.

However, while my faith is important in my life and can inform my work if you want it to, if you are not looking for that perspective in therapy, you are welcome here, too! My practice is to allow you to lead into the areas you wish to explore and go from there.

My hope for our time together is cultivating connection – to yourself, to others, and to the world.

“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”
